Powercast is currently sampling Powercaster™ and Powerharvester™ modules for Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) use. We expect first products using Powercast technology to be for sale in the U.S. before the end of 2007.
Powercast technology is designed for low power applications. Devices that require high power levels (i.e. devices that need to be “plugged in” during use such as a TV) are not currently targeted for use with Powercast technology. Any device that uses a small battery (e.g. AAA, AA, coin cell) and can be placed near a transmitter either continuously or even occasionally is a viable candidate.
Shown is a sensor retrofitted to use Powercast technology.

4 AAA batteries have been replaced with 2 rechargeable AAA batteries and a Powerharvester™ circuit.
Thanks to Powercast technology, battery life in the sensor is extended indefinitely, even in harsh environmental conditions.
