John G. Shearer, CEO and Founder
Mr. Shearer is one of the primary inventors of the Powercast Wireless Power Platform™ and associated transmission algorithms. He has held executive management positions with several start-up and venture-backed companies and has successfully commercialized early-stage research and development projects ranging from innovative image conversion systems and output devices to large-scale data collection and network optimization systems for companies in the electric power, gas, and telecommunications industries.
Mr. Shearer founded Information and Graphic Systems, Inc., and grew revenues to more than $10 million in the company’s first two years. He has managed and coordinated multi-site, multi-disciplinary product development/distribution projects and was responsible for the design and launch of the innovative data conversion software suite that became the anchor product for a division of Hitachi Software America.
Mr. Shearer holds a bachelor’s degree in physics and an M.B.A. from the University of Colorado, where he was accepted into Sigma Pi Sigma (Physics Honor Society) and was also named Entrepreneur of the Year by the Graduate School of Business. Mr. Shearer currently holds multiple patents, granted and pending, in the wireless power and RF power-harvesting fields.

Gregory W. Puschnigg, Vice President and COO
Mr. Puschnigg is a VP and the COO of Powercast. In his civilian career, Mr. Puschnigg has held operations and engineering positions in leading-edge technology companies, start-up ventures, and large corporations, including Ciena, AirFiber, Kennametal, and Intel. As an engineering program manager at Intel, he was responsible for engineering development, operations, validation, marketing, and sales for the CentrinoTM wireless adapter. As a surface warfare officer, he held engineering positions on the USS Boone (FFG 28). He also worked as a naval analyst in Washington, DC. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a B.S. and received his M.B.A. from Loyola College.

Jeffrey G. Brown, Vice President of Programs
Mr. Brown graduated from the University of Washington with a B.S. in electrical engineering as well as an executive program for scientists and engineers from the University of California, San Diego. He has over 20 years of experience in various technology industries, with a particular focus on wireless technologies in the past decade. He has held a variety of engineering and leadership positions at Intel, Qualcomm, AirFiber, and the Department of the Navy. Notable recent positions include manager of Intel’s CentrinoTM Wireless LAN programs and manager of Qualcomm’s technology programs delivering advanced functionality to CDMA handsets worldwide

Joe Barron, Vice President of Business Development
Mr. Barron has more than 23 years of experience in high tech, ranging from technology start-ups to multinational corporations. He was principal advisor at Socius Partners, a strategy consulting firm advising early stage technology companies on strategic planning and funding activities in a variety of industries ranging from life science to telecommunications. Prior to Socius, he was Vice President of Strategic Business Development for Marconi, PLC, where he was responsible for strategic partnerships, alliances and investments. Prior to Marconi he was Senior Director of Corporate Development at FORE Systems, a leading developer of data networking technology, which was acquired by Marconi in 1999. Previously, he held P&L responsibility as Product Line Manager in the Harris Corporation communications group, and was a founder and Engineering Manager at Teleprobe Systems, which was acquired by Harris Corporation.
Mr. Barron is a member of the advisory board of Blue Tree Allied Angels, LLC which invests in early stage companies. He has a B.S. in electrical engineering, has continued management studies at the Wharton School of Business, and holds several patents relating to Wharton School of Business, and holds several patents relating to communications technology.
Joseph C. Walton, Vice President and Co-founder
Mr. Walton graduated from Williams College with a B.A., and from the University of Texas with an M.B.A. He has invested and held management positions in a variety of technology startups, as well as in basic industry. The investments have resulted in his participation in several successful ventures, one of which has a public market cap of over $1 billion. He has spent time working for and advising IC2, a research organization at the University of Texas. He has also held various positions in finance related firms, including MMC Group, Inc., Pittsburgh; the Arnold Corporation, Houston; and M Corp., Houston. In addition, he serves on several corporate boards, has been involved in Pittsburgh civic and cultural organizations, and is the interim president of Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation.

Vince Bartlett, Vice President of Engineering
Vince graduated from the California State Polytechnic University at Pomona with a B.S. in electrical engineering. In addition, he completed the Executive Engineering Management Program at the University of California, Irvine. He has more than 22 years of experience in various technology industries, with a focus on market development and new product development for over a decade. He has held a variety of leadership and engineering positions at L-3 Communications, AirFiber, and RIFOCS. Notable recent positions include executive engineering management at L-3 Communications; L-3 executive-in-charge of the United Kingdom’s Bowman communications program; and the technical development of a the world’s largest and the world’s lowest-cost Primary Flight Display products used in military fighter aircraft.

Charles E. Greene, Chief Scientist
Dr. Greene is a primary inventor of the Powercast Wireless Power Platform™, Powerharvester™, and associated transmission algorithms. Dr. Greene has extensive experience in the field of RF design including years of research and development at the academic and industrial level. Previously, he worked designing active RFID tags and passive RFID systems. His most recent accomplishment was the development of the highly efficient Powerharvester™ circuit for conversion of RF energy. Dr. Greene currently has numerous patents pending in the RFID and RF power-harvesting fields.
He received his M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh in the area of RF Energy Harvesting.
Franco DeBlasio, Acting CFO and Controller
With 17 years of experience in the finance and accounting field. Mr. DeBlasio served as the Chief Financial Officer of General Kinetics, Inc., a discreet manufacturer for the Department of Defense. Prior to joining General Kinetics, he served as the Chief Financial Officer of Smart Parts, Inc., a high- volume consumer goods manufacturer. Prior to joining Smart Parts, Mr. DeBlasio served as a team leader in the international acquisitions division of Crown Castle Communications, a provider of technologically advanced shared wireless infrastructure. He served as a consulting partner at DeBlasio & DeBlasio Associates, a consulting and accounting firm based in Pittsburgh, providing consulting services to Fortune 1000 companies. He holds a B.S.B.A in accounting from Robert Morris College and an M.B.A. with an emphasis in finance and management information systems from Duquesne University.
